Arsenal believe they’re heading closer and closer to signing Gabriel Martinelli to a new contract, according to reports today.
90Min claims that of all the players Arsenal are trying to tie down to fresh terms, discussions with Martinelli’s camp are the ones progressing the most as of now.
It comes as the Gunners look to also tie down William Saliba and Bukayo Saka to new deals. Of course, Arsenal are known to have activated 12 month options on both Saka and Saliba’s deals, taking them through to at least 2024.
When it comes to Saliba, there is a worry that he might not sign a new contract. As we covered on TBR today, those negotiations are not going as well as Arsenal would like, with Saliba apparently having rejected an initial offer.

However, when it comes to Martinelli, 90Min is claiming the feeling is more positive. The ‘phenomenal‘ Brazilian is reportedly being watched by PSG. But Arsenal feel they’re getting close to agreeing fresh terms with Martinelli, and hold all the cards as well given they can auto extend his deal until 2025 if they wish.
Martinelli has been in superb form for the Gunners this season. He got himself on the scoresheet once again against Brighton, as Arsenal maintained their grip at the top of the table.
TBR’s View: Martinelli contract is key for Arsenal to sort
It’s vital that Arsenal get the contracts of Saliba, Saka and Martinelli all sorted. But given the form the young Brazilian is in and the fact PSG are lurking, they need to get this one over the line.
Martinelli has turned into a complete player for Arsenal. No longer an impact player used for his speed off the bench, he is now effectively the main man in the attack. Especially down the left, anyway.
For Arsenal, Martinelli’s new contract is key to their strategy and vision and Arsenal fans will hope things are done quickly.
