Lukas Podolski has posted on Twitter after Arsenal confirmed they had left the European Super League, along with the rest of England’s biggest six clubs – underlining his delight at his old club’s decision to rectify their initial mistake.
Just 48 hours after Arsenal were one of six English clubs that had signed up to the Florentino Perez’s dream, a Super League that boasted the best clubs in European football – without relegation or competition, but massive revenue – and greed.
Along with Chelsea, Tottenham, Liverpool and both Manchester clubs and European sides Juventus, AC Milan, Inter Milan, Atletico Madrid, Real Madrid and Barcelona – Arsenal were heavily criticised for their decision to sign up to the league.
However, all six English clubs have now pulled out and Andrea Agnelli has since stated that it would be impossible to continue without the presence of the Premier League sides. The decision to pull out of the ESL has been met with huge praise by fans.
Plenty of Arsenal fans are relieved that their club are no longer in the league, not only because of the obvious reasons but also because the Gunners would have probably finished bottom of the pile. Arsenal fans will love what Podolski has just posted.
