Arsenal fans will love what Jack Wilshere has sent to Bukayo Saka on Instagram
Bukayo Saka has been on the receiving end of mass plaudits on social media since his penalty miss for England on Sunday night. The Three Lions suffered a penalty-shoout defeat to Italy in the Euro 2020 final. But Jack Wilshere has praised Arsenal star Saka, which will surely delight fans.
The 19-year-old stepped up to take a penalty for England during Sunday night’s penalty shootout, after the two sides had drawn 1-1 on the night. Saka had been dropped from the starting line-up, with Gareth Southgate opting to start Kieran Trippier. It was a move that paid off.
Trippier’s cross found Luke Shaw who scored, before Leonardo Bonucci equalised. The final went to penalties. Alongside Jadon Sancho and Marcus Rashford, Saka missed. It saw Italy win Euro 2020, after a 3-2 win on pens. Saka has been applauded on social media, and Wilshere has now posted.
Wilshere to Saka: Arsenal star is just getting started
Saka’s involvement in Euro 2020, years from now, will be remembered as missing the penalty that saw England lose the tournament. It is harsh, but true. Look at Southgate in the past, his missed penalty is remembered – while his overall performances are not. But it should not be that way.
The Arsenal star has been electric. Coming into the side and being used ahead of Phil Foden and Jack Grealish is not something many expected – but he did it. His ability to take the ball under pressure and turn is second to none. Saka has shown, once again, why he is already one of England’s best.
