Arsene Wenger clearly had a huge amount of faith in Alex Iwobi; he promoted him into Arsenal’s first-team plans and offloaded wingers Alexis Sanchez, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Theo Walcott within a matter of months, trusting the Nigerian international to step up.
Unai Emery is clearly also a fan of the academy graduate, who is perhaps the only genuine, direct, pacy winger available to the Spaniard right now and perfect for a new high-tempo Arsenal side.
Iwobi is still only 22 years old and that lack of experience can still bring inconsistency, both within the same game and from match to match, which can frustrate fans who are so demanding at a huge club like Arsenal.

Iwobi was substituted at half time in Sunday’s north London derby and although he lasted 20 minutes longer in last night’s 2-2 draw at Old Trafford, he struggled to get into the game.
Emery’s side were getting a lot of joy down their left, with Sead Kolasinac dominating Diogo Dalot throughout, but Iwobi was unable to get in on the act.
Some Arsenal fans viewed it as a passive performance and took aim at the star on Twitter…
