Arsenal fans want West Ham marvel Tomas Soucek after Wednesday display

Tomas Soucek is a man taking the Premier League by storm and after last night’s 3-1 win over Aston Villa, Arsenal fans took to Twitter to speak of their desire to see him at the Emirates Stadium.

The Czech midfielder made his loan move from Slavia Prague permanently in the summer, with West Ham parting with £19 million for his services.

He penned a four-year deal after making 13 appearances and scoring three goals during his initial loan spell.

Soucek has set about proving himself as one of the shrewdest pieces of business done by the Hammers in many years.

He has scored eight goals from the midfield engine room this season and now has supporters of other clubs extremely envious.

Arsenal fans appear to be among the list of supporters who fancy Soucek strutting his stuff in their team.

David Moyes has struck gold with the signing of the powerful midfield player and his form this season sees the Hammers in contention for Europe.

To say he was viewed as a more defence-minded midfielder when he signed, his goal-haul is quite spectacular.

It shouldn’t perhaps be a surprise that he’s been banging them in though.

Quality

During his 158 games for Slavia Prague, he fired 40 goals and does fulfil the box-to-box responsibilities quite well.

Soucek has scored four goals in 30 appearances for the Czech Republic and he looks a certainty to head to the European Championships next summer.

His stock is soaring each week right now and West Ham must be growing concerned that a bigger club will come calling.

At 25, the powerhouse is at a nice age where he can still improve and on current form, most Premier League sides would welcome him.

Arsenal signed Thomas Partey in the summer and he was viewed as the man to finally end the wait for a Patrick Vieira-type player.

The Ghanian has spent time out injured though and as he completes his rehabilitation, supporters are casting envious glances across London to Soucek.

Arsenal have a decent plethora of midfield options but it’s fair to say that Soucek would improve the Gunners.

Mikel Arteta has the likes of Granit Xhaka and Mohamed Elneny who play in Soucek’s position.

Neither player are currently playing at a level remotely close to that of Soucek and you’d fancy Arsenal to be intrigued by his current form.

If West Ham were to go on and secure a European berth for next season, the £67,000-a-week international would likely be keen to stay at the London Stadium.

Arsenal fans can wish all they like but ultimately they might have missed a trick not trying to sign the player from Slavia Prague.
