Arsenal fans want swap deal as title winners surprisingly join race for Granit Xhaka
Juventus have made the shock decision to join Jose Mourinho’s Roma in the race to sign Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka this summer. The Swiss star is expected to leave Arsenal and Roma have an offer on the table. But Juventus are keen, and Arsenal fans have requested a swap deal for Xhaka.
Xhaka, 28, produced a sparkling performance on Monday night. He helped Switzerland produced a gobsmacking comeback against France, and then scored a penalty in the shootout to beat the World Champions. Since then, Juventus are said to have joined Roma in the race for the midfielder.
Reports claim Arsenal rate Xhaka in the region of £17million – but that Roma have only tabled an offer of £10.4million up front with £2.4million in add-ons. That is reported by CalcioMercato, who also now claim that Juventus are keen on the ex-Gladbach man. A move to Juve is much more tempting.
What are Arsenal fans saying about Juventus and their interest in Xhaka – swap deal?
Meanwhile, Wales ace Aaron Ramsey has found his two seasons at Juventus tricky. Now, reports claim he could return to the Premier League. CalcioMercato have previously claimed that Ramsey could rejoin Arsenal in a move that would see Hector Bellerin go the other way.
Arsenal fans have reacted on Twitter to reports that Juventus want to sign Switzerland’s number 10. Many believe that it makes sense to strike a swap deal with the Gunners. It would see Xhaka and Ramsey trade clubs. One fan urged Arsenal to “make it happen”.
