Arsenal fans want Shkodran Mustafi to start in Europa League clash

The defender is ready to return after a hamstring problem.

Arsenal get their Europa League campaign underway this evening when they travel to Austria to face Rapid Vienna.

The Gunners were shocked by Olympiacos in the round of 32 last season and Mikel Arteta will hope to progress further this time around.

Arsenal do have some injury concerns ahead of the game, particularly in defence. Rob Holding is set to miss out and that could open the door for Shkodran Mustafi.

The German centre-back is yet to feature this season after picking up a hamstring injury against Manchester City in July.

With summer signing Gabriel firing on all cylinders, alongside David Luiz and Holding the future had looked bleak for the experienced defender.

It would seem as though he could be handed a reprieve though and the 28-year-old could even feature in Vienna this evening.

The £90,000-a-week performer had divided the fanbase at times, although he did show some flashes of brilliance under Arteta last season.

With that in mind, the Spaniard will probably have no problem in turning to the defender whilst Holding recovers from his latest injury.

Some supporters have been alerted to the news of Mustafi being included in the squad and are keen to see him start the game this evening.

Here is a selection of Tweets from Arsenal supporters discussing the German’s return to action.
