Arsenal fans want Lucas Torreira to start against Manchester City

Arsenal host Manchester City on Saturday night in an FA Cup semi-final at Wembley – and some of the club’s supporters on Twitter have claimed they want to see midfielder Lucas Torreira start.

The Gunners will start as underdogs for the contest, but winning a piece of silverware would go a long way to making up for an underwhelming season at the Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta, who was assistant to Pep Guardiola at Manchester City, will be looking to get one over on him over the weekend.

Arteta has certainly made improvements on the pitch since his mid-season arrival in north London and they can take confidence from the fact they beat champions Liverpool in their last game in the Premier League.

A selection of Arsenal supporters on social media have urged Arteta to go with Torreira in the centre of the park against Man City.

Torreira started his first game since football resumed during Wednesday’s win over Liverpool and last 57 minutes before being substituted off.

The 22-year-old would be a surprise inclusion in the starting XI for the cup semi-final due to his lack of action recently.

He is an aggressive defensive midfielder that could look to help nullify a creative Man City side and add an extra body in the middle.
