Arsenal fans want London-born Premier League star signed after latest display

But Eberechi Eze starred for Crystal Palace on Monday night but failed to prevent his side losing 2-1 to Champions League-chasing Leicester City – and Arsenal fans have discussed his display, urging their club to consider a move.

Palace took a surprise, early lead against Leicester on Monday night at the King Power and Eze was pivotal to that. His beautiful pass after striding forward from midfield allowed Wilf Zaha to shoot first time and score.

However, Leicester came roaring back and after Timothy Castagne had equalised soon after the restart – the in-form Kelechi Iheanacho scored an excellent winner to strengthen Leicester’s hopes for a top-four finish this season.

It was another example of Eze shining in the Premier League, though, as he continued to improve his stats in a side that are much more focused on defending their own goal – rather than playing expansively and attacking.

In his 30 Premier League appearances for Roy Hodgson’s side, the playmaker has had a hand in seven goals – scoring three and creating four. It was his first goal involvement in 10 games, though Palace have only won two of those.

The £20million (Eurosport) signing has also only completed 90 minutes in half of the 30 top-flight appearances he has made – starting 25 of his 30 games and coming off 10 times in his 25 starts. It makes his stats more impressive.

Aged just 13, Eze left Arsenal’s youth academy to join Fulham – before spells at Millwall and Reading before finally finding a home at QPR – where he clocked up a whopping 112 games in all competitions, having a hand in 33 goals.

Given that he is still incredibly young, Eze is showing enormous promise and quality and the fact he can provide game-changing moments in the Premier League for a defensive-minded side is proof he is a top-quality playmaker.

Arsenal could do with a player that can play both out wide, or in the number 10 role. Martin Odegaard remains on loan but his future with the Gunners remains up in the air, while there is a need for cover in the attacking third.

Eze would probably struggle to start at the club he initially began his professional football career at. But with Arsenal looking to win the Europa League and qualify for the Champions League, cover could be required in attack.

That means a player like Eze, who is as versatile as he is quality, would be a good signing. On the other hand, failure to qualify for Europe might see some players want to leave – and therefore, Eze might be needed to replace players.

Eze would be a top signing for Arsenal whether they qualify for Europe, or fail to do so. Arsenal fans seem to think so, and many have responded on Twitter to London-born Eze’s performance for Palace – and they want him signed.
