Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka has been ruled out for three months today and supporters have urged the club to re-sign Jack Wilshere.

The Switzerland star suffered a knee injury against Tottenham on Sunday. Although surgery isn’t required, the damage is significant and a period of rehabilitation will begin.

It’s a blow to Arsenal. They have won three games on the spin and had looked to be picking up a bit.

Sunday’s win against their fierce rivals was a big one and should give them momentum for the rest of the season.

One of the most important things for Arsenal was to keep all of their best players fit and firing.

Xhaka certainly fits into that category and his injury leaves Mikel Arteta with a sizeable void to fill.

Arsenal fans think they have found an answer to their problems. Wilshere has been without a club since leaving Bournemouth at the end of last season.

Remarkably Wilshere is only 29-years-old but finds himself in limbo. Okay, he’s had injury problems but last season he did play 18 games, scoring two goals and claiming one assist.

Now, he’s training with Arsenal and fans think a deal should be a no-brainer on the back of Xhaka’s injury.

What have Arsenal fans said about Wilshere?

They appear unanimous in their opinion that handing him a short-term deal makes perfect sense.

It’s been a while since the player made a Premier League appearance and a contract would represent a risk.

He might not be a bad backup option though, although there is an argument that he’d block the pathway for a youngster.

Wilshere has played 198 times for the Gunners, scoring 14 goals and claiming 30 assists for the club.

He cares deeply about Arsenal and he’d surely snap Mikel Arteta’s arm off for a new deal.

Here is what Arsenal fans have been saying on Twitter, suggesting Wilshere should get a chance to shine at the Emirates Stadium.
