Arsenal have recently been linked with a potential summer swoop on RB Leipzig defender Dayot Upamecano.

Links between Arsenal and the French defender have been rumbling on for some time. The most recent report, from The Mirror, suggested Arsenal were hopeful of signing the player in the summer to help strengthen their inconsistent defence.

As reported by the Daily Mail, Arsenal were priced out of a move for the Frenchman last summer. However, a £50 million release clause in his current deal suggests the Gunners could be in with a chance this summer.

Now, Arsenal fans have had a chance to watch Upamecano in action as he lined up against rivals Tottenham Hotspur in the Champions League.

It is fair to say that the majority of Gunners supporters were impressed.

The 21-year-old was outstanding at the heart of defence as Leipzig dumped a sorry Tottenham out of the competition.

Upamecano missed the first-leg through suspension and took this opportunity to show what he is capable of on the biggest stage.

The youngster was strong, read the game incredibly well and even had the odd burst forward in gliding fashion.

It was a display that Arsenal would have watched with obvious envy. Indeed, plenty of fans watching on made it clear that they would like the French starlet at The Emirates in the summer.
