A number of Arsenal fans have taken to Twitter to comment on Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa following the Gunners’ draw with Fulham on Sunday, with several insisting that they would like the midfielder signed this summer.
Mikel Arteta’s men endured a frustrating afternoon at the Emirates. It did appear that Arsenal were experiencing something of a hangover following their outstanding display in the Europa League on Thursday.
The game looked set to end in defeat for the Gunners. They were 1-0 down heading into stoppage-time after Josh Maja had scored a second-half penalty.
However, Eddie Nketiah scrambled home the equaliser in the final moments to earn the home side a point.
It would have been particularly difficult for Scott Parker’s side to take. The result leaves them six points off safety. And every single team in the league has at least one game in hand over the Cottagers.
They require an incredible end to the campaign to stay up. But it does appear that a number of their players are still managing to impress rival fans.
Anguissa has arguably been a shining light for the club this term. It is an outstanding return to the fold after being loaned out last season.
The 25-year-old – who earns £67,000-a-week, according to Spotrac – certainly looks destined to attract offers this summer, particularly if Fulham are relegated.
Anguissa is good on the ball, and is rarely beaten in the air. According to Whoscored, no player won more aerial duels than the Cameroon international at the Emirates on Sunday.
It was not a day when Arsenal supporters were left particularly impressed by their own midfield. Neither Dani Ceballos or Mohamed Elneny seemed to cover themselves in glory.
With Ceballos set to return to Real Madrid in the summer, and Elneny’s contract up next year (via Daily Mail), Arsenal may be on the lookout for a new addition in the middle of the park in the coming months.
And following Sunday’s game, it appears that many Arsenal fans would like to see Anguissa signed.
They believe that he could take his game to the next level at the Emirates. And some have also have suggested that he would be a brilliant option to put alongside Thomas Partey.
He has the ability and stature to stamp his authority on a game. And given his age, he is a player who may not even be at his peak just yet.
Of course, there is always a concern about signing players from clubs battling to avoid relegation. But Anguissa looks to have the potential to step his game up and play at a higher level.
And if Fulham fail to get themselves out of trouble, it seems inevitable that plenty of clubs will come calling.
Judging by what some of the Arsenal fans were saying on social media, many will think that it will be a missed opportunity if Edu does not look to make a move.
With that in mind, here is what some of the Gunners supporters were saying about Anguissa following Sunday’s draw…

Let’s focus on the positives: Zambo Anguissa is a good player and Fulham will get relegated. Get it done @m8arteta
