Arsenal fans want Allan Saint-Maximin after Newcastle draw
A number of Arsenal fans have taken to Twitter to insist that they would love to see the Gunners sign Allan Saint-Maximin following his display for Newcastle on Friday night.
The Magpies secured a very decent point against Leeds at St James’ Park. It had appeared that the visitors were well on their way to adding to the misery surrounding Steve Bruce’s side.
However, Newcastle fought from a goal down to earn a draw. And Saint-Maximin seemed to be at the heart of everything positive the home side did.
He scored the equaliser with a brilliant solo run. He timed his effort perfectly after dancing past sliding challenges from Kalvin Phillips and Liam Cooper.
And if Newcastle were going to find a winner, it seemed that it was Saint-Maximin who would score it.
The 24-year-old caused all sorts of problems for the likes of Cooper and Luke Ayling. The pair could not compete with his pace.
Saint-Maximin has made an outstanding start to the campaign. He has scored two and contributed two assists in five Premier League appearances.
Arsenal fans laud Saint-Maximin as attacker inspires Newcastle to draw
If Newcastle are going to stay up this season, they will surely have Saint-Maximin to thank.
But with that, keeping him on Tyneside is going to prove an incredibly difficult task for Bruce and the Newcastle hierarchy.
It was reported in the summer that the Magpies valued Saint-Maximin at around £60 million amid interest from Everton.
If anything, his value has probably increased.
For many Arsenal fans, he would be the ideal addition to Mikel Arteta’s squad at some stage in one of the coming windows.
Arsenal did conduct something of an overhaul over the summer. But much of their focus centred around their options at the back.
It appears that they still have plenty of work to do in attack. The likes of Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah are out of contract next summer.
Saint-Maximin is capable of playing out wide. But he has shown particularly at the start of this season, that he is also a real threat when playing centrally in a striker role.
Unquestionably, there are very few players in the Premier League who have the ability to contend with the pace he has.
And having only turned 24 earlier this year, he has bags of time to improve further.
He is already Newcastle’s talisman. He has won the man of the match award three times already this season.
So there is every reason to believe that he could be a real game-changer higher up the table.
Plenty of Arsenal fans have implored the Gunners to make a future move for the attacker.
‘Would love to have him’
They are adamant that he would be able to take the club’s attacking options to that next level as Arteta’s men start to show a little promise after a difficult start to the campaign.
With that in mind, here is what some of the Arsenal fans were saying about Saint-Maximin following his performance on Friday night…

Watching MOTD, I’ve realised I’d fully take Saint-Maximin or Adama Traore to Arsenal. Both have great pace and excellent dribbling abilities, drive the team forward, draws players to them and are under 25.

Not sure why no big 6 club nor Arsenal went for Saint-Maximin. Man is class.

I think sometimes football opinions about why we like a player can get a bit too technical. The reason I like Allan Saint-Maximin is because he’s fun. That’s it & that’s why I would take him at Arsenal in a heartbeat

Saint Maximin is a baller and is way too good for Newcastle. Need him here at Arsenal
