Arsenal fans urge their club to sign £45m-rated Brighton star

Arsenal suffered a dismal 2-1 defeat to Brighton on Thursday night at the Emirates as centre-backs David Luiz and Sokratis failed to perform once again – and Gunners fans have urged their club to sign Brighton captain Lewis Dunk.

Goals from Adam Webster and man of the match Neal Maupay saw Brighton steal all three points thanks to the latter’s winner in the 80th minute – a goal he scored after peeling off the stationary David Luiz before heading past a stranded Bernd Leno.

German goalkeeper Leno was called on multiple times to save Arsenal, as the likes of Maupay, Aaron Mooy, Pascal Gross and more looked to extend Brighton’s lead. Alexandre Lacazette had equaised with a looping header just after the restart.

Arsenal did sign Luiz from Chelsea in the summer but it is clear the former Paris Saint-Germain star has not cleared up Arsenal’s defensive issues. They desperately need a new centre-back, and maybe even more than just the one.

Dunk, 28, hs played every single minute of Brighton’s Premier League campaign this season – apart from November’s 2-0 defeat to Leicester due to suspension. He has helped Potter’s side win five times, four clean sheets and has even scored twice.

The Sun claimed in the summer that Dunk almost joined Leicester City for £45million as Harry Maguire’s replacement, but a move failed to go through. Now, Arsenal fans have urged their side to go in for Dunk in the January window.
