Arsenal fans urge club to swoop for Everton Soares amid reports Gremio need to sell

The Brazilian shone at the Copa America this summer.

Everton Soares was one of the stars of Brazil’s victorious Copa America team this summer, scooping the tournament’s top scorer prize to go alongside team glory.

But according to a report from Brazilian outlet Globo Esporte, his club Gremio are at their limits financially and need to sell him in order to balance the books and be able to improve their squad overall this summer.

The piece quotes director Alberto Guerra saying that Gremio will only be able to buy if they sell first and opening the door for bidders for the star.

But he was also keen to emphasise that there have been no bids for Everton yet – but plenty of Arsenal fans took to Twitter to urge their club to change that.

This is a crucial summer for the Gunners but so far nothing much has really happened, with the pursuit of Wilfried Zaha stalling and other targets taking a long time to get over the line.

The supporters are crying out for a big signing to get their pulses racing and despite the club’s financial position, they are keen for it to be Everton.

Brazilian Edu has just joined the Gunners behind the scenes and was at the Copa America with Everton, so some supporters are urging him to work his magic and get his countryman to north London this summer.
