Arsenal fans urge Cesc Fabregas to return after Spaniard sends Tweet to Freddie Ljungberg

Cesc Fabregas has sent a Tweet to new Arsenal interim manager Freddie Ljungberg, wishing the former Invincibles member the best of luck after replacing Unai Emery in the dugout temporarily.

Emery was sacked on Friday morning after a dismal run of results that left the Gunners without a win in seven league and cup outings. The Gunners have suffered their worst start to a Premier League season since 1994-95 – with 18 points from 13 games.

The Arsenal board chose to act after a struggling performance at home to Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt, which saw the German side overcome Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s opener to win 2-1. Daichi Kamada scored a brace.

Ljungberg posted on Twitter, informing fans that while he is in charge he will do his best to put smiles back on the faces of Arsenal fans. Former Arsenal skipper Fabregas replied, wishing the Swede the best of luck.

Ljungberg has been given the role after starting out as Arsenal’s Under-15’s coach three years ago. He has since risen through the ranks, becoming Under-23 manager, Wolfsburg assistant and then a part of the senior coaching staff this term.

Meanwhile, Gunners icon Fabregas is still playing football for Monaco. The 32-year-old has only managed eight league games this season – starting the campaign with a suspension and recently picking up a hamstring injury.

Many Arsenal fans responded to Fabregas’ Tweet by urging the former Barcelona and Chelsea midfielder to return.
