Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has named a strong starting XI for his side’s fixture in the FA Cup third round – but some of the club’s fans on Twitter are upset by the absence of Ainsley Maitland-Niles.

The Gunners host Premier League rivals Newcastle United on Saturday evening and will be looking to embark on another cup journey.

Arsenal go into this season’s FA Cup competition as the holders, after they beat Chelsea last year.

The North London giants have won the FA Cup in four of the last seven years and manager Arteta would surely love to win it for a second consecutive year.

Despite being sat 11th in the Premier League table, the Gunners go into Saturday’s contest on a three-game winning streak and they are starting to build momentum after a poor start.

A selection of Arsenal supporters on social media have voiced their frustration though that Maitland-Niles is on the bench.

The 23-year-old is a versatile star that can play at full-back or in midfield, but he can’t seem to nail down a spot in the side and he’s not started a match since 19 December.

Cedric Soares has been preferred to him at right-back against Newcastle, which will be a big frustration for the England international
