Rob Holding has been named in Arsenal’s pre-season squad to travel to the United States. Unai Emery has selected a 29-man squad for the trip across the Atlantic.
Arsenal play Colorado Rapids, Bayern Munich, Fiorentina and Real Madrid in several locations across America. And Holding will travel out with the squad as he continues to return from injury.
The 23-year-old has been missing since early December when he ruptured his ACL in the 2-2 draw with Manchester United. Consequently, this ruled him out of the remainder of the 2018/19 season.
But Holding is edging closer to a full return as he steps up his recovery in pre-season. The ex-England U21 starlet will give Emery a major boost to his defence.
And with Laurent Koscielny refusing to go on tour to the USA and Shkodran Mustafi’s form being inconsistent, Holding is needed more than ever.
Arsenal fans are delighted to see the former Bolton Wanderers man back and ready to perform for the Gunners. Alongside Hector Bellerin, Arsenal have two key defenders coming back from long-term injuries.
Here are some tweets from Arsenal fans on Holding’s inclusion in Emery’s USA squad.
