Arsenal were rampant during this afternoon’s under-23 clash with Chelsea winning 6-1 and supporters think they’ve spotted a clue regarding striker Folarin Balogun.
The Gunners youngster scored twice but was then substituted in the 38th minute. Some fans think that might be to preserve him for the Carabao Cup clash against AFC Wimbledon on Wednesday night.
Balogun has been forced to wait patiently for a chance to shine at the Emirates Stadium. Despite penning a new deal in the summer, Balogun has played for just 70 minutes in the Premier League this season.

His time will come though and at 20-years-old there is plenty of time on his side. Wimbledon could provide Arteta with the perfect game in which to unleash him in, however.
There was plenty of speculation regarding Balogun’s future. Some reports had even suggested that he wouldn’t sign a new deal, although Arteta managed to convince him to commit his future.
In total, the young talisman has played in eight matches for the Gunners. He has found the net twice and registered one assist since Arteta arrived as the club’s manager.

It seems as though plenty of supporters want the youngster to get his chance in the team. Many feel as though he is ready and should be featuring less frequently for the under-23 ranks these days.

Balogun, it’s fair to say, will get a chance. Arteta will be meticulous with his thought process though and will surely have certain games in mind for Balogun.
Wimbledon in the week seems like the perfect opportunity for Balogun. A game against League One opposition cold be ideal and he could even get off to a flyer with a couple of goals.
After today’s decision to substitute Balogun after 38 minutes, fans think Arteta has made his mind up on who will spearhead the attack in midweek.
