Ruben Neves laid on a gorgeous assist as Wolves earned an excellent 1-0 win over Brighton on Wednesday night. The midfielder reminded all just what he is capable of – and Arsenal fans have reacted on Twitter.

Back in the summer, Arsenal were strongly linked with a move for the 24-year-old. The Express reported that Portugal international Neves was in talks with Arsenal – with Granit Xhaka expected to join Roma.

However, with Xhaka’s move to Roma falling through – Arsenal did not sign £40million-rated (Express) Neves. But the report states that Arsenal are ‘likely’ to retain an interest in the ex-Porto maestro.

In his 193 games for Wolves, Neves has developed a reputation for his long-range shooting and creativity. He reminded all with a brilliant example, clipping a delightful pass into Romain Saiss to score.

What are Arsenal fans saying about Wolves midfielder Neves, after assist?

The Gunners do have options in the middle of the park. Thomas Partey and Xhaka are first choice, with Ainsley Maitland-Niles, Albert Sambi Lokonga and Mo Elneny as cover.

Partey and Elneny are set to jet off and represent Ghana and Egypt at the African Cup of Nations in January. Elneny is out of contract in the summer, and Maitland-Niles could also be sold in the January window.

So, Arsenal could do with another midfielder and Neves might be ideal. Having caught wind of his glorious assist on Wednesday night, many Gunners fans took to Twitter to urge their club into signing Neves.
