Arsenal fans take to Twitter to call for more from Nicolas Pepe

Nicolas Pepe has cut a frustrated figure at Arsenal.

The Ivorian winger, who is now in his third season at The Emirates, has failed to deliver so far.

Signed from Lille for a huge price tag of £72m back in 2019 (BBC), Pepe hasn’t contributed what the fans expected him to.

In 92 appearances Pepe has scored 25 goals and registered 16 assists (Transfermarkt).

Ahead of this weekend’s return to Premier League football after the first international break of the season, Pepe has done an interview with the club.

The Football Coach Who Ended A Civil War

The player spoke about an array of topics such as his best moments for Lille, playing at the Velodrome against Marseille and how difficult it is to play in empty stadiums (Arsenal website).

Off the back of this interview, many Arsenal fans have been flocking in the replies to the club’s tweet calling for Pepe to deliver more.

Now that Pepe has had a chance to settle in London, and has a couple of years under his belt, he could be set to kick on.

It cannot be forgotten that the 25-year-old put up some incredible numbers for Lille before he made his big money move to the Premier League.

In his final season before signing for Arsenal Pepe scored 22 goals and registered 11 assists across 38 league games (Transfermarkt), numbers that are extraordinary in any league.

Now, though, it is time that the Ivorian starts to at least get close to replicating those numbers for the Gunners.

It will certainly be easier said than done. But, if the fans can get behind their players instead of getting on their backs, it is certainly achievable.

Especially so with the likes of Bukayo Saka, Martin Odegaard and Emile Smith-Rowe in the side to create chances.
