Laurent Koscielny has done fantastically well to recover from the achilles injury that ended his 2017/18 season but the fact he is still holding Arsenal’s defence together is perhaps a symptom of their defensive decline.
That defensive malaise manifests itself away from home more often than not and the Gunners poor road form continued last night with a 3-1 defeat against Wolves.
The Old Gold burst through Unai Emery’s team in a frantic first half flurry and left Arsenal on the back foot in the race for the top four and qualification for next season’s Champions League.
But Koscielny’s frailties were exposed in the Midlands last night, understandable as they are, prompting some Arsenal fans to go on Twitter to point out that he is past his best and should not be relied upon any more.

Koscielny earns £90,000 per week, according to Spotrac, and while he may be a reliable backup option, Arsenal really need to find a new commanding central defender who can take on the mantle of organising a defence that is in desperate need of it.
