Arsenal put a sorry January behind them with a massive win over Wolves last week – and they have now received a further boost concerning Takehiro Tomiyasu.
The Gunners failed to win a single game in January in all competitions. And they were barely able to find the back of the net across all of those fixtures.

It proved to be a hugely frustrating month for Tomiyasu. He featured against Manchester City on New Year’s Day after missing the previous game at Norwich.
And he did play against Liverpool in the Carabao Cup. However, he spent the large part of the month on the sidelines due to a calf injury. And Mikel Arteta suggested that he would have preferred to not even pick him for that game against Liverpool.

Tomiyasu has been a revelation since joining Arsenal. And replacing him whenever he has been absent has been a huge challenge for Arteta.
In fairness, Cedric Soares was superb at Molineux. But it does appear that Arsenal have now been handed a major boost ahead of the games against the likes of Brentford and Wolves.
Arsenal have uploaded a video on their Twitter account showing Tomiyasu back running on the training ground.
It would appear that he is going through some simple drills at this stage. So it may still be a little while before he is back. But it is incredibly encouraging that Tomiyasu is making progress.
Arsenal fans should be delighted as Tomiyasu edges closer to returning
Arsenal took a real gamble during the January transfer window. They let both Ainsley Maitland-Niles and Calum Chambers leave the club.
Admittedly, neither had been as impressive as Tomiyasu when they did get an opportunity. But Arsenal are now working with an incredibly thin squad.
So having Tomiyasu back could be massive. Ben White labelled him ‘world-class‘ this season.
His return could hand them a big lift in their bid to finish in the top-four.
