Arsenal are reportedly interested in signing Lyon midfielder Houssem Aouar and the highly-rated Frenchman posted on Twitter this week amid reports he could be sold – and Gunners fans have responded.

Aouar, 21, has been in excellent form for Lyon once again this season – having a hand in 16 goals from the middle of the park. Aouar scored nine goals and laid on seven assists, contributing a goal and three assists in Lyon’s Champions League campaign.

However, the global health crisis has struck and with the French government ruling out the return of professional football in France until September – Lyon may have to sell their prized assets to remain afloat and balance the books.

French newspaper L’Equipe state that they are willing to sell the box-to-box midfielder this summer – if a fee of £43million is tabled. The Daily Mail claimed in February that the Lyon midfielder has admirers at Arsenal. Aouar posted on Twitter.

Arsenal are expected to be in the market for central midfielders this summer. Dani Ceballos is expected to depart this summer and return to Real Madrid, while Granit Xhaka, Lucas Torreira and Matteo Guendouzi have struggled throughout 2019-20.

Arsenal supportes responded to Aouar’s Tweet amid reports that Lyon will sell their academy product, and many fans urged the pocket-sized 5ft 7in midfielder to move to north London in the coming months.
