Leeds United are one of a handful of clubs reportedly trying to sign Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah before Thursday’s 5pm deadline – and Arsenal fans reckon the Whites will gain promotion if they land the wonderkid.
BBC Sport claim the 20-year-old is a target for the Whites, who are looking to bring in a striker to take the pressure off of Patrick Bamford – though Bamford did score in Leeds’ first game of the season, a win over Bristol City.
Leeds face plenty of competition for Nketiah’s signature this summer, with German Bundesliga side Fortuna Dusseldorf keen to bring the Englishman to Germany. Bristol City are also interested.
Kemar Roofe completed a move to Vincent Kompany’s Anderlecht on Tuesday, after his Leeds contract had entered its final 12 months. He is believed to have agreed a move in the region of £6million, signing a three-year deal.

Now, Leeds want to replace Roofe with England Under-21 international Nketiah. The youngster has some incredible stats, clocking up 28 goals in just 38 outings for Arsenal’s reserve side and already making 19 senior appearances.
In those 19 matches, he has scored three goals. One came against Burnley in the Premier League, and a brace against Norwich in the Carabao Cup. He surely has what it takes to score goals in the Championship, if he signs.
Leeds fans are keen for Nketiah to sign on, but it is the reaction of Arsenal fans that is most telling. Indeed, the majority are hopeful that the youngster joins Leeds – and reckon that promotion is “guaranteed” if he signs.
