Atletico Madrid midfielder Saul Niguez has left football fans around Europe on tenterhooks after seemingly suggesting that he will announce his new club on Twitter this week – and Arsenal supporters have reacted on Twitter to his post.
Niguez, 25, is regarded as one of the best central-midfield players in European football as he continues to shine for Diego Simeone’s side. He has also earned 19 caps for Spain, having already clocked up a whopping 286 Atleti outings.
The Evening Standard claim that Niguez has a release clause worth a whopping £135million, but the midfielder could be available for just £70million – should clubs come calling, desite the current global health crisis.
Niguez posted the Tweet on Sunday. Despite little more than paper talk of an Atletico Madrid exit, he has sent supporters into meltdown by stating he will announce a new side on Wednesday – if indeed, it is not part of an advertising campaign.

He followed up Sunday’s random, bizarre Tweet with a second one on Monday, stating an announcement would be made in two days. He has a contract at Atletico Madrid until the summer of 2026.
Arsenal fans reacted to Niguez’s original Tweet, urging him to move to north London in the coming months – despite the likelihood that Niguez is only teasing supporters, and that the Tweets relate to something other than a new football club.
