A number of Arsenal fans have taken to Twitter to comment on Tariq Lamptey after watching the youngster produce a stunning cameo as Brighton secured a last-gasp draw in their latest Premier League clash on Wednesday.

Lamptey has not yet made 30 appearances in the top flight. And yet, he is a player that fans of most clubs will be more than aware of.

He was absolutely outstanding last season. However, injury ruled him out for a large part of the campaign for Graham Potter’s side.

And that perhaps helped the Seagulls keep the 21-year-old during the summer. He was however, linked with a move away.

In fact, it was reported that Arsenal wanted the former Chelsea starlet. Reports suggested that Brighton had set a £50 million asking price.

The Gunners did manage to bring a right-back in during the window. However, it was Takehiro Tomiyasu who arrived at the Emirates for £16 million after a superb spell with Bologna.

Tomiyasu has gone on to be a revelation for Arsenal. He has certainly cemented his spot at the top of the right-back pecking order ahead of the likes of Cedric Soares and Calum Chambers.

But it does appear that the Gunners have benefitted from having two top players battle on the other flank. Nuno Tavares has pushed Kieran Tierney a lot more than many would have expected. And Tierney may well return a better player because of it.

And with that, several Arsenal fans have insisted that Edu and Arteta must now look at making a fresh move for Lamptey.

Lamptey dropped down to the bench for this week’s trip to West Ham. But with Potter’s side 1-0 down, the starlet was brought on with 20 minutes remaining.

And it proved to be an inspired change. Lamptey set up Neal Maupay for the game’s 89th minute equaliser.

The finish from Matteo Guendouzi’s best friend was outrageous. But the cross from Lamptey was also outstanding.

He beat Arthur Masuaku to gain that yard of space on the right flank before curling the ball back towards Maupay. And the striker managed to hook the ball into the top corner to secure another point.

Lamptey has actually tended to play slightly further forward since returning from injury. And that is only likely to make Brighton’s task of keeping him even harder.

Certainly, plenty of Arsenal fans feel that signing Lamptey is a must in one of the future transfer windows.

His pace gets supporters out of their seats. But he has also shown that he has an enormous amount of quality.

‘He is so so good’

And he only turned 21 in September. So he has so much time to improve and develop further in the years to come.

And many of the Arsenal fans would love to see Lamptey continue that development at the Emirates in the near future.

With that in mind, here is what some of the Arsenal fans were saying about signing Lamptey following his performance and assist on Wednesday…
