Arsenal fans took to social media this afternoon after Arsene Wenger’s side officially announced the signing of 20-year-old Cohen Bramall from Hednesford Town on the club’s Twitter page.
The young left-back, who will join up with Arsenal’s Under-23 squad to begin with, impressed on a recent trial at the Emirates and will join the Gunners in a deal worth around £40,000.
Bramall played his football for Market Drayton last season, before moving to Hednesford Town in the Northern League Premier Division.
The 20-year-old has reportedly been training with the first-team during his trial period, with a view to him eventually breaking into the main side after time with the Under 23s.
Many Arsenal fans have reacted positively to the move on Twitter, praising Wenger for thinking ahead at the future of the club and giving young players a chance at the highest level.
One Arsenal fan in particular even already started making comparisons between the non-league signing and an Arsenal club legend.
Other fans, however, were more concerned with the club’s current form and criticised the Arsenal manager for not making big-name signings to help the Gunners compete for the Premier League title this season.
Arsenal supporters will be hoping that Bramall can follow in the recent footsteps of Leicester’s Jamie Vardy and Manchester United’s Chris Smalling, who both came through the non-league system before starring on the Premier League and the international stage.
What do you think Arsenal fans? Will Bramall become a huge part of the first-team one day?
