Arsenal have been using the Europa League to rotate their defence and give often-criticised centre half Shkodran Mustafi gametime.
He has largely made the most of it, profiting from being out of the limelight every week by quietly putting in assured performances and getting his confidence back.
Even as Arsenal conceded two goals against Portuguese outfit Vitoria last night and needed Nicolas Pepe to net a double of free kicks to drag them to a 3-2 win, Mustafi impressed the fans.
There are now some supporters on Twitter willing to put their neck on the line and say he isn’t as bad as he’s been made out, making a change from the barrage of criticism he has become accustomed to getting throughout his Arsenal career.

He is slowly turning his Gunners career around and may be relied upon as a backup option, especially as summer signing David Luiz struggles to inspire too much confidence.
It is always welcome when the vitriol surrounding a player begins to die down and he is able to focus on his football, and Mustafi looks the better for it.
He likely still has the odd mistake in him but against the calibre of opposition on show in the Europa League, that might not be quite as costly.
