Arsenal fans have been giving their reactions to a surprise report that Barcelona are planning to offer two fringe players for Matteo Guendouzi.

According to Foot Mercato, the Spanish giants are hopeful of landing the French ace this transfer window, and are now contemplating offering Arturo Vidal and Ivan Rakitic to get him.

That is an alternative that comes after mentions of Philippe Coutinho in exchange for the 21-year-old.

Vidal and Rakitic are no longer regulars for Barca, who have the likes of Sergio Busquets, Frenkie de Jong, Riqui Puig, Carles Alena and now Miralem Pjanic in their ranks.

The pair are 33 and 32 respectively, which is likely a reason Barcelona are happy to see them depart the Nou Camp.

Vidal has been with Barca since 2017, with Rakitic joining a few years earlier from Sevilla.

The pair have enjoyed a trophy-laden period with the Catalan giants, but it would seem they are now surplus to requirements given the other options available to Quique Setien.

Over at the Emirates, Guendouzi has not been seen in the red of Arsenal since the defeat to Brighton in June, with the former Lorient man finding himself in a fracas at the end of the game.

Mikel Arteta seemingly didn’t like what he saw from Guendouzi, and his future has been in doubt ever since.

On social media, a lot of Arsenal fans took a dim view of Barca’s reported plan to offer Vidal and Rakitic, with many feeling they wouldn’t be worth losing Guendouzi for:
