Arsenal have reportedly added AFC Bournemouth defender Nathan Ake to their centre-back shortlist for January along with two other defenders – and many Arsenal fans feel the Netherlands international would be a top signing.
The injury to Calum Chambers has sparked Mikel Arteta, Edu and Raul Sanllehi into action. The Gunners are after a centre-back, and even more so now that Calum Chambers has been ruled out for the entire season due to a knee injury.
The Telegraph claims that Juventus outcast Daniele Rugani is an option. The Italy international is way down the pecking order under Maurizio Sarri – Merih Demiral, Leonardo Bonucci, Giorgio Chiellini and Matthijs de Ligt are all preferred.

Another potential replacement for Chambers is that of RB Leipzig defender Dayot Upamecano. The player is still very much up-and-coming, but is one of the most highly-rated young defenders in European football at the moment.
But Arsenal are also considering a player from the Premier League, in the form of 24-year-old Ake who is quickly being recognised as one of the best centre-backs outside of the Premier League’s top six.
Indeed, his Bournemouth form has seen him partner Virgil van Dijk or Matthijs de Ligt, when either one of the two cannot play. Sky Sports claimed Bournemouth valued Ake at £75million in the summer, but Arsenal fans claim they would be happy with Ake.
