Arsenal’s loaned-out midfielder Lucas Torreira would reportedly be happy to be back in the squad next season – and some of the club’s fans on Twitter have claimed they would like to see him back at the Emirates Stadium.

Torreira, 25, is an aggressive central midfielder that has been out on loan this season with Spanish club Atletico Madrid.

Unfortunately, the Uruguayan has struggled for minutes in La Liga and has completed the full 90 minutes in just three of his 22 appearances across all competitions this campaign.

As it stands, he’ll return to the north London club at the end of the season.

The Athletic is reporting that Torreira would be “happy” to be back at Arsenal, but only if he felt he would receive opportunities to play under manager Mikel Arteta.

He’s been with the Gunners since 2018 and played 89 games for them, but was deemed surplus to requirements last summer when they loaned him out.

A selection of Arsenal supporters on social media have admitted they would like to see the South American enforcer get another chance.

One used the example of current Arsenal midfielder Mohamed Elneny, who is back in the squad this season after being loaned out the previous year.
