Over the weekend Arsenal were linked with a  move for Newcastle United midfielder Matty Longstaff and their supporters have taken to Twitter to react to their reports.

According to Team Talk, the Gunners are leading Everton, West Ham and a whole host of top European clubs for the services of the highly-rated midfielder.

Longstaff rose to fame back in October when he scored the winning goal during a 1-0 win over Manchester United at St James’ Park.

He has made seven appearances in the Premier League this season, with Steve Bruce choosing to blend him into the first-team carefully.

Longstaff’s contract is up in the summer and the report claims that he is preparing to walk away from Newcastle.

Arsenal are keen to add ball-playing defenders to their ranks ahead of next season and Longstaff would fit the criteria.

Some Gunners supporters are unsure about the link though, with many of the opinion that a club the size of Arsenal should be attracting better players.

Longstaff looks like one for the future and it wouldn’t be completely unlike Arsenal to add a player of that nature.

Following the links to Longstaff, we looked at what Arsenal supporters were saying on Twitter about the potential transfer.
