Arsenal are set to redouble their efforts to sign Sampdoria duo Dennis Praet and Joachim Andersen, according to Italian outlet Samp News 24.
They report that after Unai Emery saw a 42 million euro (£37.2 million) double swoop turned away, the Gunners are all ready to table a 50 million euro (£44.3 million) offer that meets the Serie A side’s valuation.
Andersen is a Danish international central defender, while Praet is a central midfielder – and it’s clear that Arsenal need improvement in both those areas.
The issue is that they can’t go out and get big-name, big-money upgrades in those roles because they’re not in the Champions League.

That means that slightly riskier, but cheaper swoops for young and upcoming talent is pretty much the only way forward – but many Arsenal fans took to Twitter to express their dismay with the links.
Many hadn’t even heard of the duo and think that no other top sides want them – even though the report says Tottenham are keen on Andersen, an international team-mate of Christian Eriksen.
