Arsenal are reportedly holding contract talks with their youngster Gabriel Martinelli – and some of the club’s supporters on Twitter are excited but the news and want to secure his long-term future.
The Daily Mail reports that Arsenal have begun discussions with the 18-year-old about an improved deal, as they look to treble his current £10,000-a-week deal.
It is explained that Real Madrid are interested in the £50million-rated attacker, but the Gunners are trying to secure his future at the Emirates Stadium.
The Brazilian wasn’t expected to make the kind of impact he has in the first-team this season, but he’s played his way into Mikel Arteta’s side during his first year in English football and looks a mega talent.
His current contract doesn’t expire with the North London club until 2024, but it seems a smart move to secure his future and hand him a pay rise with Madrid lingering.
A selection of Arsenal supporters on social media believe it’s the right decision to reward Martinelli with a fresh deal.
The forward already has 10 goals in 21 games across all competitions this campaign and continues to go from strength to strength.
He’s got the kind of composed finishing similar to teammate Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, while his work-rate is a throwback to ex-Gunners star Alexis Sanchez.
Here are some Arsenal fans on Martinelli:
Give him ozils wages

Good move but don’t just stop there, @GMartinelli35 needs valuable minutes on the pitch.

Was thinking 60k-80k would be more fitting for a talent this massive.
