A number of Arsenal fans have taken to Twitter to comment on recent reports from the Daily Mirror suggesting that the Gunners are interested in Manchester United defender Chris Smalling.
Smalling’s future appears to lie away from Old Trafford. The 29-year-old is currently on loan at Roma, and the Daily Mirror is reporting that he is unlikely to return to his parent club when his time in Italy ends this summer.

And it appears that a number of sides are chasing the centre-back. The Mirror reports that the Gunners are leading the race for his signature. But Everton and Leicester City are also interested in Smalling.
Interestingly, there are plenty of Arsenal fans on social media who have no interest in seeing a deal done for the defender.

The Gunners clearly need to get better at the back. But the supporters are not convinced that Smalling would be an upgrade.
Smalling has actually proved to be an inspired signing for Roma. His form in the Italian capital has generally been very impressive.
However, there are a number of supporters on Twitter who believe that signing Smalling would be a step in the wrong direction. He has been labelled mediocre, and the fans are not convinced that he will be able to bring his Serie A form back to the Premier League.
Here is how some of the supporters have reacted to the rumours…
