Arsenal fans react to report about Lamptey and Aarons
Some Arsenal fans have reacted to a report about Max Aarons and Tariq Lamptey.
According to The Athletic, while sources outside of the club linked them with the duo, there were concerns about the players.
Various reports have emerged over the last few months linking the side with Aarons and Lamptey.
However, in reality, the Gunners were wary about the players’ height and ability in the air.
In that regard, it makes complete sense the Gunners moved for six-foot-two Takehiro Tomiyasu. The north Londoners signed the ace for £16m from Bologna.
Report about Aarons and Lamptey is concerning
Wanting a right-back who can head the ball seems to be oddly specific.
Whilst, it is understandable that Mikel Arteta wants someone who can slot into a three-man defence when in possession, there is a need for flexibility.
When analysing Tomiyasu, Aarons and Lamptey, there is a strange pattern emerging.
None of the trio are perfectly balanced players. They are either side of the extremes, too attack-minded or too defensive.
Both Aarons and Lamptey would have proven far better attackers than Tomiyasu.
And Aarons is part of a fearless Norwich side that allows him to bomb forward whenever he is capable.
But neither have the composure in defence and ability on the ball as the Japan international.
Here is how some Arsenal fans reacted to the claims…

I’m actually glad Ben White was unavailable against Lukaku, would have been a MASSACRE.
but no concern for our 50 million pound centre back Ben White’s ability in the air? 😂 joke of a backroom staff honestly— 🇵🇸🇵🇸 (@abzinhoo0o) September 1, 2021
So you believe this nonsense from edu and Arteta?— Kenn (@Kenn97708548) September 1, 2021

Let me get this straight. So when it came to centre back, Arsenal decided that height and aerial ability suddenly didn't matter when binning William Saliba and paying £50m for Ben White? In a position where height and aerial ability are more important? 🤣🤣🤣#AFC https://t.co/Srly4LIzUR— Factual Gooner (@FactualGooner) September 1, 2021
