Arsenal fans react to performance of Miguel Azeez during friendly win
Arsenal thrashed Watford 4-1 at the club’s training ground yesterday as their pre-season training campaign picked up speed. For Miguel Azeez, it was a chance to throw himself firmly into Mikel Arteta’s thoughts.
The 18-year-old central midfielder has featured prominently during the club’s friendlies. His goal yesterday was very easy on the eye, curling home from the edge of the penalty area.
It has to be said that Azeez perhaps won’t get much game time during 2021/22. All he can do though is knuckle down and prove to Arteta that he has a future at the club.
Last season, he scored one goal and claimed two assists for the club’s under-23 ranks, whilst he also claimed eight goal contributions in 28 outings for the under-18 outfit.
Azeez is a solid player and as a central midfielder, he does have a real chance at Arsenal. The club has a proud history of utilising talented youngsters and he’ll want to be the next to breakthrough.
Performing well in the first team during pre-season certainly won’t do him any harm and he’ll hope for more outings before the big kick-off.
Arsenal fans buzzing with Azeez
The Gunners faithful are known for getting misty-eyed when it comes to the club’s younger players but Azeez does seem special.
They were certainly tearing up after seeing him notch during a first-team game yesterday. Many were delighted with their talented youngster and took to Twitter to pay tribute to him.
His goal was pleasing and the fan base hopes he has done enough to earn himself a place in the squad for next season.
