Arsenal took a giant leap towards a place in the quarter-final of the Europa League last night with a 3-1 win over Olympiacos. After the game, supporters took to Twitter to rave about defender Gabriel.

The young defender scored Arsenal’s second goal of the evening, with Martin Odegaard opening the scoring and Mohamed Elneny putting the seal on the victory.

When Youssef El Arabi capitalised on some sloppy play from Dani Ceballos, there was a small momentum shift during the tie.

The Greek champions began to come into the contest and began to grow in confidence as they sensed the Gunners had been shellshocked.

Gabriel’s bullet header, however, lifted Arsenal and provided the catalyst for them to finish the tie with a flourish.

The centre-back signed for the Gunners during the summer, costing the club £26 million from Lille. He has been a regular in the team this season, featuring 22 times in all competitions.

Last night he was in great form and provided some solid defending to go alongside his prowess in the other box.

Supporters have taken to Twitter in the aftermath of Gabriel’s performance and here is what they’ve been saying about the £50,000-a-week enforcer.
