Arsenal’s under-23 outfit played out an entertaining 1-1 draw with rivals Tottenham this afternoon.

The Gunners took the lead with a neat finish from young midfielder Ben Cottrell after 17 minutes.

The lead was shortlived, however, with Kion Etete equalising for Spurs with seven minutes of the first-half remaining.

The result means that Arsenal’s under-23 team remains unbeaten for six games and the future is looking bright.

Goalscorer Cottrell was in fine form once again and he drew some praise from supporters on Twitter.

The 19-year-old now has four goals to his name this season and it might not be long before he’s knocking on Mikel Arteta’s door.

Cottrell is a determined performer who is capable of playing in a number of positions.

This season alone he has played as a holding midfielder, a conventional central midfielder, a No.10 and as a striker.

Cottrell did play for 13 minutes of a Europa League tie earlier this season and he’s showing the credential to make the breakthrough.

Supporters were certainly impressed with his performance – and goal – during today’s game.

Here is what the Arsenal fan base were saying about the youngster on Twitter.
