Arsenal fans react to performance of Alexandre Lacazette against Olympiacos

Arsenal were dumped out of the Europa League last night losing 2-1 after extra-time to Olympiacos, ending their hopes of securing a Champions League place through the back door.

Papa Cisse earned the Greek outfit an extra period, scoring the only goal of the 90 minutes. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang equalised with just seven minutes remaining.

With the clock running down, however, Olympiacos struck again with Youssef El-Arabi netting with just a minute to go.

The result represents a massive setback for the Gunners who saw the contest as extremely winnable.

It was the first time Mikel Arteta’s team had been beaten in 10 matches and they now face a big FA Cup game against Portsmouth next week.

One man who came in for particular criticism was striker Alexandre Lacazette. The Frenchman was tasked with playing through the middle and fluffed his lines with a golden opportunity in the second half.

The £182,000-a-week striker netted his first goal in 10 league games against Newcastle recently and it had been hoped he had turned a corner.

That doesn’t look to have been the case, however, and Arsenal fans were extremely disgruntled after last night’s performance.

Here is a selection of tweets from supporters after Lacazette fails to impress.
