Arsenal fans react to performance from on-loan midfielder Joe Willock

Joe Willock played 90 minutes last night to help earn Newcastle United earn a point in the Premier League – and some Arsenal fans on Twitter were impressed with what they saw from their on-loan star.

Willock, 21, moved to St James’ Park in the January window on loan from Arsenal for the rest of the season.

The central midfielder is a product of the Gunners academy who’s made 78 senior appearances for them.

But Mikel Arteta’s side decided to grant him regular football elsewhere for the second half of this season.

Willock played in Newcastle’s 1-1 draw at home to Aston Villa on Friday night in the Premier League.

He’s quickly become an ever-present in Steve Bruce’s XI and was lively in the centre of the park against Villa, seeing plenty of the ball and working hard defensively.

A selection of Arsenal supporters on social media were impressed with what they saw from the all-action central midfielder in a Newcastle shirt.

One suggested that he could end up replacing Dani Ceballos next season at the Emirates Stadium.

Willock will be back in the Arsenal squad at the end of the season as it stands, while Ceballos is due to return to Real Madrid from his loan at Arsenal.
