A number of Arsenal fans have taken to Twitter to react to comments Paul Merson made to Sky Sports where he suggested that the Gunners should do all they can to get Brendan Rodgers in as their new manager.
Emery continues to come under significant pressure at the Emirates. Arsenal have not won any of their last four games in all competitions, throwing away leads in each of those fixtures.
It appears that plenty of Gunners fans are ready to see a change in the dug-out. And Merson appears to be one of those who wants to see a new manager in charge.
“Rodgers has done so well that Leicester have a job on their hands keeping hold of him. If I were Arsenal, I’d be breaking the bank to get him, give him a five-year contract and sit back and watch him transform the club,” he told Sky Sports.
Rodgers has done an outstanding job with Leicester. And many will be expecting his side to add to Emery’s woes when they meet at the King Power Stadium this weekend.
And it seems that plenty of Arsenal fans agree with Merson that Rodgers would be the ideal target. He is doing well with Leicester having enjoyed plenty of success with Celtic. Some also feel that he did not get the credit that he deserved for the job he did at Liverpool.
Would Rodgers want Arsenal job?
Reds fans would probably not change how everything played out given that they ended up with Jurgen Klopp, another Champions League trophy and are now the team to beat in the Premier League. But some Arsenal fans feel that Rodgers worked wonders with the squad that he had at Anfield.
However, some have admitted that they cannot see Rodgers wanting to leave Leicester if Arsenal do come calling. It is a worrying statement regarding the current state the Gunners find themselves in.
But it does appear that some Arsenal supporters would not be surprised if Rodgers turned them down if he was offered the chance to move to the Emirates.
Here is what some of the supporters made of Merson’s comments…
I like Rogers attacking style….but the only thing I will say is that, I’m not sure if he could sort the defense. Remember when he had Liverpool? Defensively bad. But I would be willing to give Brendan the chance.

He would certainly be better than what we have ??♂️ I’d rather have the Ajax coach but arsenal will probably wait until the end of the season, when we have secured Europa League football again ?

Him coming to Arsenal would be a dream. Him or Allegri.
