Thomas Partey is in contention to start during this weekend’s FA Cup contest against Newcastle United following his thigh injury.

Boss Mikel Arteta confirmed during his pre-match press conference that the Ghanaian had made good progress.

Arsenal are still to make a final decision on the £45 million maestro but the signs do look positive as he prepares to be assessed ahead of this weekend.

Partey has only played six times for the Gunners since checking in from Atletico Madrid.

The 27-year-old will be a welcome addition to the Arsenal team who have picked up of late.

Arteta has overseen three wins in succession and things are on the up for the North Londoners.

Having such an influential player back will be welcomed, however, and it’ll be interesting to see if he starts this weekend.

Arsenal managed to sign Partey with the clock ticking towards the transfer deadline during the summer window.

Following Arteta’s admission that the 28-cap international could make the squad this weekend, supporters have taken to Twitter.

It’s fair to say plenty are delighted, although some believe he shouldn’t be rushed back for an FA Cup contest.

Here is what the Arsenal fan base are saying about Partey.
