A number of Arsenal fans have taken to Twitter to express their disbelief after Mikel Arteta confirmed – in comments reported by Football London – that Kieran Tierney is in contention to play on Thursday.
Tierney has been sidelined since the defeat to Liverpool at the start of the month. And it appeared that it was set to be some time before he made a return.

Arsenal claimed on their official website ahead of Friday’s clash with Everton that Tierney was still two to three weeks away from returning to training.
Somehow however, the left-back could actually make his return to playing this week. Arteta confirmed ahead of Thursday’s Europa League tie with Villarreal that Tierney could be available.

It is a remarkable turnaround for Tierney, with some fans fearing that he may miss the rest of the campaign at various stages.
Unsurprisingly, plenty of supporters seem overjoyed by Arteta’s update. Many simply cannot believe that he could potentially play such a prominent role in the semi-final.
‘Don’t play with my emotions’
Admittedly, there are some fans who have urged Arteta to be cautious with Tierney. He has now had several problems with injury since his £25 million move to the Emirates (fee reported by Sky Sports).
There is a concern about him potentially returning too soon. But many are incredibly excited about the prospect of Tierney featuring in two of their most important games of this season, with several lauding the defender for getting back so quickly.
