Arsenal fans react to Michael Olise display for Crystal Palace

A number of Arsenal fans have taken to Twitter to comment on Michael Olise after the reported Gunners summer target produced a superb display for Crystal Palace on Sunday.

Patrick Vieira’s men came from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 with Leicester City at Selhurst Park. And it seemed that Olise’s introduction eight minutes into the second-half was the catalyst for their comeback.

The 19-year-old got one back with a superb finish from the edge of the box eight minutes after coming on.

And Vieira was vindicated for another substitution shortly after with Jeffrey Schlupp equalising against his old side within a handful of minutes of his own arrival into the game.

But it was Olise that plenty of the Arsenal fans were drooling over on social media following the draw.

The teenager had his initial first-time effort blocked, but reacted immediately to volley home into the bottom corner, leaving Kasper Schmeichel with no chance.

But it was not only his goal that was impressive about Olise’s performance.

Only Wilfried Zaha produced a greater number of key passes, despite Olise only coming on in the second-half (Whoscored).

Meanwhile, he also managed three shots on goal. Of course, two came in the move that resulted in Olise smashing the ball into the back of the net.

It was Palace fans’ first proper glimpse of the youngster since his move to Selhurst Park from Reading in the summer.

And interestingly, it appears that he has staked a strong claim for a starting spot in Palace’s first game after the international break – which sees them travel to the Emirates to face Arsenal.

A look on social media would suggest that plenty of Palace fans would like to see Olise replace Jordan Ayew in the lineup in a fortnight.

And it would be little surprise if plenty of Arsenal supporters were slightly concerned if he is indeed promoted by Vieira.

A number of Gunners fans have insisted that their club missed a trick not bringing him in when they had the chance in the summer.

It was claimed by TEAMtalk back in May that Arsenal were amongst his admirers.

Ultimately, Palace did not have to break the bank to sign him from the Royals. As noted by BBC Sport, the Eagles paid just £8 million for his signature.

Olise had scored seven goals and provided 13 assists in the Championship during his time with Reading. So it was no secret that he was threatening to be an amazing talent.

Arsenal do have depth in those attacking areas. But Olise looks as though he is going to be around the highest level for a long time.

‘Baller’, ‘What a finish’

And thus, several supporters fear that they are going to rue not bringing him to the Emirates when the opportunity was seemingly available to them.

With that in mind, here is what some of the Arsenal fans were saying about Olise after he opened his account for Crystal Palace on Sunday…
