Arsenal playmaker Mesut Ozil has been forced to face lots of criticism from supporters during his time at the Emirates Stadium but during 2019/20 he has won some of his cynics over.
The World Cup-winning performer has only created three assists this season but there has been a clear improvement in his application and work rate.
When Unai Emery chose to freeze him out it was met with some disgruntlement from the club’s supporters and Mikel Arteta has been nothing but complimentary since he took over.
Ozil has been at Arsenal for many years. He signed in 2013 from Real Madrid costing £42.4 million (BBC Sport).

The 31-year-old has played 254 games for the Gunners in all competitions; bagging 44 goals and claiming 77 assists for the club.
Given the recent hiatus due to the Covid-19 health pandemic, the club’s media team decided to showcase some of Ozil’s best moments on Twitter.
Naturally, that got supporters talking and many were extremely positive about the man who played 93 times for his country.
Ozil has proved something of an enigma during his time at Arsenal and although there have been times when he could have been better, he has proved decent in recent months.
Here is a selection of tweets from the Gunners fanbase in reaction to the highlights reel shared by the club.
