Arsenal do not have to wait too long to get back out onto the pitch and perhaps put things right following their dramatic draw with Crystal Palace on Monday.

It was a frustrating evening for Mikel Arteta’s men. And their mood was not helped by a bizarre decision from Mike Dean to not send James McArthur off for kicking Bukayo Saka during the first-half.
They will hope to improve when they face Aston Villa at the Emirates on Friday. Of course, this fixture provided one of the darkest days of Arteta’s tenure to date last term.
And some of the Arsenal fans fear that their chances of success have not been helped following the announcement of who will officiate the contest.

Craig Pawson will take charge. For some Gunners supporters, his most memorable game came when he sent off David Luiz and Bernd Leno in their loss at Wolves last term.
He actually took charge of four Arsenal games in the Premier League last season. The Gunners won none of those fixtures, and had two penalties awarded against them.

Having said that, Pawson also officiated the North London derby win over Tottenham this term. And some have pointed to that display from the 42-year-old as reason for reassurance ahead of Villa’s visit.
