Arsenal fans react to being draw against Olympiacos in the Europa League

Arsenal have been drawn against Olympiacos in the Europa League last 16 – and some of the club’s fans on Twitter have given their instant reaction.

After beating Benfica in the Round of 32, the Gunners now know they will face Olympiacos in the next stage of the European competition, with their first leg away from home.

Mikel Arteta’s side advanced in the Europa League after beating Portuguese opposition Benfica in dramatic fashion on Thursday.

They were heading for elimination, but Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang popped up with an 87th minute header to give the hosts a 3-2 victory on the night, which was a 4-3 advantage on aggregate.

With Arsenal currently 11th in the Premier League table, the importance on the Europa League has been cranked up.

They have a recent history in the competition of losing in the 2018/19 final to London rivals Chelsea, but will hope to go one step further and qualify for next season’s Champions League via this route.

Upcoming opponents Olympiacos are also familiar to them, as the Greek side dumped them out of last season’s Europa League in the knockouts.

Olympiacos beat the Gunners on away goals last year, which adds an extra bite to this fixture.

A selection of Arsenal supporters on social media have made it clear they want revenge, with one claiming striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang can make up for a glaring miss he had in the previous tie with Olympiacos.

The 31-year-old missed with practically the last kick of the game from close range against Olympiacos, which meant they were knocked out last season.
