Arsenal fans react to Alexandre Lacazette’s display in comeback vs Standard Liege

Alexandre Lacazette captained Arsenal last night in the Europa League group stage against Standard Liege.

The Gunners were forced to come from behind for the second time in a matter of days, avenging a 2-0 deficit to get the draw which got them through to the last 32 top of the group.

Skipper Lacazette and teenager Bukayo Saka clawed back a 2-2 draw for the Gunners, but the Frenchman’s performance did not appear to impress fans on Twitter.

Gabriel Martinelli was left on the bench and scored against West Ham on Monday, so might have sneaked ahead of Lacazette in the striking pecking order.

There were complaints about a lack of fitness and sharpness, which are not ideal on a big night for the Frenchman as the skipper.

With Manchester City the weekend visitors to the Emirates Stadium, Freddie Ljungberg needs all his big hitters at top form and it seems like Lacazette needs to contribute more than goals to impress the fans.

The character to come from behind may please supporters but they need to stop giving away cheap goals to inferior teams, or the Ljungberg era is going to be a struggle, however long it lasts.
